How to Clean Wood Furniture from Omnidesk

There's a reason why wooden furniture is a design classic that never goes out of style. Not only is it a long-lasting solution, but a well-made piece of wood furniture has timeless appeal, whether it's antique wood furniture or something more contemporary like our Ichi collection.

That said, some might find cleaning wood furniture a daunting task. It accumulates grime and dirt over time that is difficult to remove using only a feather duster.

You need to carry out regular upkeep to keep your wood furniture looking its best over time.

So, keep reading to find out how best to clean and care for your Omnidesk solid wood table tops!

Before We Start

The tabletops in our Wildwood, Wildwood+ and Ichi collections are made of solid wood. It varies in grain and colour depending on how and where the trees were grown, meaning that no two tables will be the exact same.

Based on the humidity and temperature of your space, solid wood will expand and contract slightly. It may also be subjected to slight colour changes under artificial light or by being exposed to sunlight.

As your Omnidesk grows with you, lighter woods will become darker in colour whereas darker woods will fade. This is a natural process and not a defect.

Everyday Care and Cleaning

Our solid wood table tops are made to last and with proper care, they will almost be indestructible.

It's best to dust wood furniture weekly to remove dust and other microscopic particles from the wood surface. These particles can eventually form a hazy film that scratches the protective coating of furniture polish.

We recommend using dry, lint-free cloths like a soft cotton cloth, or preferably, a microfiber cloth. Make sure you wipe following the direction of wood grain when you clean wood furniture.

Severe stains and spills of dirt and fluids should be removed immediately.

Normal Stains

If dry wiping doesn't remove the stain, use a damp clean cloth to rub over the affected area. Once the stain is removed, quickly wipe dry with a clean cloth.

The wiping motion should also be done in the direction of the wood's grain.

Grease/Water Stains

Wipe a damp microfiber cloth over the affected area. If necessary, dip the cloth in a mild dish soap solution. Then, wring the cloth nearly dry and wipe the troubled area. Immediately, dry with a clean soft cloth.
